Metalkitor Review 2026: Is It Legit, and Which Kit Should You Buy?
Updated
Metalkitor appears to be a real, operating brand, not a scam: metalkitor.com publishes return, refund and missing-parts policies, names its operating company, and the brand runs an official store on Amazon. The two catches are a copycat domain (metalkitor-ca.com) and a return policy whose two versions disagree, so buy only from metalkitor.com or the METALKITOR Amazon store and save a copy of the terms when you order.
We judge the seller on its published policies and listings. We have not ordered from Metalkitor or built these kits, so the build times and sizes below come from the product listings.
For a first kit, the 454-piece Metalkitor Scorpion shows what the brand is like without a huge time commitment. The 1,200-piece Giant Mantis is the showpiece for experienced builders.
Metalkitor Scorpion 3D Metal Puzzle Model Kit (454 Pcs)
For builders who want to try the brand on a manageable project. It's the kit most people search for by name: 454 pieces and a listed build time of about 4 hours, without the 16–20 hour commitment of the Mantis.
Metalkitor Steampunk Spider 3D Metal Puzzle with Light (250 Pcs)
For anyone who wants the light-up effect before taking on the Giant Mantis. About 250 parts, a listed 4–6 hour build and color-changing lights on the back.
Metalkitor Giant Mantis 3D Metal Puzzle Model Kit (1200+ Pcs)
For patient builders who want a centerpiece. 1,200+ parts, a 16–20 hour listing estimate, poseable joints and an internal light, so plan on several sessions.
Is Metalkitor legit? The short answer
On the evidence anyone can check, yes. Three signs point to a functioning business:
- Published policies. metalkitor.com has a Return & Refund page, an FAQ and a stated missing-parts promise.
- A named company. The privacy policy on metalkitor.com product pages names SIA “METALKITOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMPANY” as the data controller.
- Marketplace presence. Metalkitor runs an official METALKITOR brand store on Amazon.com, and its kits are listed on several Amazon marketplaces and at Walmart.
Legit is not the same as good service. We have not placed an order, so we can’t speak to delivery times or how support handles a claim. What we can show you is which policies apply and where the weak spots are.

Why do scam-checker sites disagree about Metalkitor?
Search “is Metalkitor legit” and you get opposite verdicts:
- ScamAdviser concludes metalkitor.com is very likely legit. It notes a valid SSL certificate, an old domain and money-back-friendly payment methods (Alipay, Mastercard, PayPal, Visa).
- Scam Detector calls the site active and medium-risk, and files it under a “Work From Home” industry, which is plainly wrong for a model-kit shop.
- EvenInsight labels it risky, while its own page says its score does not represent the site’s true nature.
These tools are automated. They score domain signals such as age, certificates, traffic and hosting, not actual orders. A miscategorized or low-traffic shop can be flagged without anyone having had a bad experience. Treat them as a prompt to read the real policies, not as a verdict.
Watch out for copycat domains like metalkitor-ca.com
Some of the scariest warnings online are about a different website. metalkitor-ca.com is a separate, young domain that uses the brand name. Gridinsoft flags it as a suspicious shop, and Scam Detector labels it young and unsafe.
- Buy only at metalkitor.com or through the METALKITOR brand store on Amazon.
- Before paying from a social-media ad, check the domain in the address bar. Extra words, country codes or hyphens are a reason to stop.
Where are the independent Metalkitor reviews?
They are harder to find than you might expect:
- The star ratings on metalkitor.com come from the store’s own review system, so they are not independent.
- ScamAdviser found no reviews on popular review sites, and we could not confirm a Trustpilot profile.
- At least one YouTube reviewer states that Metalkitor sent the kit. The blog review that ranks for this search uses affiliate links to the store.
Amazon customer reviews are the most useful public source. Skip the average and look for three things: photos of finished builds, missing-part complaints and how the seller responded, and comments on instruction clarity, which matters most on high-piece-count kits.
What is Metalkitor’s return, refund and missing-parts policy?
Here is what metalkitor.com says. Start with the first point: the store’s own pages disagree.
- Return window: 7 days or 30? The Return & Refund page says to request a return within 7 days of receiving the goods. The FAQ page says returns or exchanges are accepted within a 30-day period. Screenshot both pages when you order.
- Condition. Except for defective items, products must come back in original condition with packaging, accessories and manuals. The FAQ adds that items must be unused.
- Full refund or replacement for defective, lost, wrongly shipped, out-of-stock and cancelled orders.
- Partial refund if you bought the wrong item, for any item more than two weeks after delivery, and for clearance purchases.
- No refund for a wrong or undeliverable address. A replacement is possible only if you pay for reshipping.
- Cancelling. Orders not yet shipped can be cancelled for a full refund. Refunds go to the original payment method and, per the FAQ, are processed within 1–5 business days after cancellation is confirmed.
- Missing parts. Metalkitor says it replaces missing parts and the first replacement is free. Identify the part with a photo of the product or the instruction page.
Returns start by emailing [email protected] or using the Contact Us page. You may be asked for proof of purchase and photos or videos. If a part breaks during the build rather than arriving missing, our repair guide covers common fixes.
Where to buy
PayPal, Visa and Mastercard all give you a dispute or chargeback route if an order goes wrong. If you buy through Amazon, Amazon’s return process applies instead of the store’s own policy.
How does Metalkitor compare with Metal Earth and Piececool?
Metalkitor describes its range as animal, insect, steampunk and engine models. Its best-known kits are large, high-piece-count mechanical creatures, and some, like the Spider and the Mantis, have built-in lights. Metal Earth and Piececool are better known for landmarks, vehicles and licensed models built from flat sheets. Their entry kits are usually much smaller projects, such as the Metal Earth Eiffel Tower.

Which Metalkitor kit should you buy?
Treat the three best-known Metalkitor kits as a ladder. Start at the bottom unless you already have large builds behind you.
- Scorpion (454 pieces). About 4 hours per the listing title; our catalog gives 4–6. The clearest introduction to the brand.
- Steampunk Spider (about 250 pieces). A 4–6 hour build with color-changing lights on the back. Fewer parts than the Scorpion, plus the lighting feature.
- Giant Mantis (1,200+ pieces). 16–20 hours per the listing, poseable joints and an internal light. Plan on several sessions.
Listing build times usually assume some experience, so expect your first kit to take longer. Metalkitor Scorpion: which version is which?
The Scorpion name covers more than one model, and that causes most of the confusion.
- The 454-piece Scorpion is the kit sold on Amazon in several colors (Golden, Blue, Green and Red Black listings). Walmart lists a Green version as a 454-piece kit. Our catalog gives it roughly 16 × 14 × 14 cm and rates it Advanced.
- Metalkitor’s own site sells four scorpions: Colorful, Black Gold, Red Black and the War Scorpion King. It describes the Colorful Scorpion as having an electroplated finish and a balanced difficulty suited to first-time builders.
- The War Scorpion King is a different model, not a color option. Metalkitor describes it as larger, more complex and harder. Its Red and Blue versions are listed as full metal; Black and Green are listed as metal plus a PC shell.
Age: Amazon.de lists a manufacturer minimum age of 14 for the 454-piece Scorpion. Buying for a teen? Our guide to metal kits and kids covers sharp edges and small parts.
Who it suits: builders who want a real taste of Metalkitor in one or two sittings. Who should skip it: anyone who has never built a metal kit and wants a quick, low-stakes first project. The easier option below is a better start.
Metalkitor Giant Mantis: what to know before you buy
The Giant Mantis is Metalkitor’s statement piece. The listing gives 1,200+ parts in stainless steel and alloy, a 16–20 hour assembly time and a finished size of about 15.5 × 6.9 × 9 in, with poseable joints and a magnet-controlled internal light. It’s the largest kit in our ranking of the biggest 3D metal puzzles. On Amazon it comes in Purple and Grass Green.
The Magic Wand question
Metalkitor sells a separate “Magic Wand” kit (100+ pieces, finished size about 13 × 6 cm). According to its listing, the wand switches the lights inside the Giant Mantis and Big Fox on and off. Read your Mantis listing to see whether the wand is included, or ask the seller before ordering.
Avoiding look-alikes
Similar giant mechanical mantis kits are sold under other brand names, such as Domiuie (listed with 1,000+ pieces, a green plastic shell, metal plates, screws and nuts) and carve ideas. Check that the listing’s brand says Metalkitor, or buy from the METALKITOR brand store.
Who it suits: experienced builders who want a centerpiece and enjoy long builds. Who should skip it: first-timers. Build the Scorpion first.
Not sure yet? A gentler first mechanical kit
If you have never built a moving metal kit, a 454-piece Scorpion is a big first step. The ROKR Mechanical Manta Ray is a smaller test run: 108 pieces, an intermediate rating and a 2–3 hour build. It tells you whether you enjoy this style of kit before you commit to a Metalkitor creature.

Frequently asked questions
Is Metalkitor a scam?
We found no evidence that it is. Metalkitor publishes return, refund and missing-parts policies, names its operating company, runs an official Amazon brand store, and its kits are listed at Walmart. We judged this from policies and listings, not a test order; the main risk is the copycat domain metalkitor-ca.com.
Is metalkitor-ca.com the official Metalkitor site?
Treat it as unofficial. It is a separate, young domain that Gridinsoft flags as suspicious and Scam Detector labels unsafe. Buy at metalkitor.com or through the METALKITOR brand store on Amazon.
What is Metalkitor’s return policy?
The Return & Refund page gives a 7-day request window, while the FAQ page mentions a 30-day period, so the store’s own pages disagree. Items more than two weeks after delivery, and clearance purchases, get only a partial refund. Screenshot the policy when you order and pay with PayPal or a card.
What if my Metalkitor kit is missing parts?
Email [email protected] with a photo of the product or the instruction page showing the missing part. Metalkitor says the first replacement is free.
How long does the Metalkitor Scorpion take to build?
The listing title says about 4 hours for the 454-piece kit. First-timers should expect longer; our catalog gives 4–6 hours.
Do I need the Magic Wand for the Giant Mantis lights?
Metalkitor sells a separate Magic Wand kit that switches the lights inside the Giant Mantis and Big Fox on and off. Check your Mantis listing to see whether the wand is included before you order.
