MetalModelKit is an independent research resource for the 3D metal model kit hobby. We compare published product information, write practical guides, and organize options so you can spend less time researching.
What we do
The metal model world has exploded — from two-dollar single-sheet kits to premium mechanical models that cost as much as a video game console. That range is exciting, but it makes it hard to know what is actually worth buying. We exist to make the available information easier to compare and to state the limits of that research plainly.
How we research
Our desk research uses manufacturer product pages, published specifications, included-piece lists, instructions when available, and clearly identified user reports. We do not claim that a kit was physically tested unless the page includes original build evidence.
Our editorial comparisons consider four things:
- Published construction details — part count, materials, dimensions and assembly method.
- Finished design — subject, scale where stated, movement and display footprint.
- Value signals — included parts and features relative to the listed price.
- Likely skill fit — an editorial estimate based on part count, curves, tolerances and instruction complexity.
Difficulty labels are estimates, not universal standards. Build time, fit and difficulty can vary by builder and production batch; verify current specifications with the manufacturer or retailer before buying.
