Piececool Queen Anne's Revenge (Red) Review
Our verdict
On paper, a long, 439-piece pirate-ship project for builders who have finished a few metal kits and want a compact red display piece.
What we like
- +Famous pirate-ship subject in a red color version
- +Highest listed part count of the Piececool ships we track
- +Stainless steel parts; no glue or solder needed
Watch out for
- −Listed build time of over 8 hours — plan several sessions
- −Listing fields disagree on size and on whether tools are included
- −The 439-piece count appears in only one listing field
The Piececool Queen Anne’s Revenge (model HP362-KR) is a 3D metal pirate ship kit listed in a red color version. This review is based on the published Amazon listing and product photos. We have not assembled this kit, so the difficulty and planning notes below are estimates drawn from those specifications.
What the listing says
| Spec | Listed value |
|---|---|
| Model | HP362-KR |
| Material | Stainless steel |
| Color | Red |
| Sheets | 2 (about 11 × 21 cm each) |
| Pieces | 439 (structured piece-count field only) |
| Build time | ”May take over 8 hours” |
| Assembled size | About 5.91 L × 1.46 W × 4.72 H in (15 × 3.7 × 12 cm; size field only) |
| Scale | Not stated |
| Age | 16 and up |
| Tools | Clipper and needle-nose pliers recommended; no glue or solder |
The part count of 439 appears only in the listing’s structured piece-count field, and the sheet count comes from the included-components field. The size comes only from the size field; the separate item-dimensions field gives 22 × 2 × 0.1 cm, which looks like a flat sheet or package rather than the assembled ship.
Earlier versions of this page gave a six-to-nine-hour build, called the kit “among the most popular” and described color-etched sheets, gun-port flaps and rigging threads. The listing supports none of those details, so we have corrected the build time and removed the claims.
What the build involves
Piececool’s listing calls the kit “challenging” and “difficult”, which is marketing wording rather than a formal rating. We rate it Advanced because the listing gives 439 parts and a build time of over 8 hours: a long project, but well short of the 1,200-plus-part, 16-to-20-hour Giant Mantis, which we rate Expert.
Fitting 439 parts onto two sheets means many of them are small. These precautions are likely to help:
- Plan for several sessions. The listing’s own estimate is over 8 hours.
- Check your tools. One bullet says the clipper and pliers are recommended but not included, while the included-components field lists them. Have your own ready; see our tools roundup.
- Sort parts by step. Group small, similar pieces before you start.
- Build the hull square. On any sailing-ship model, a twisted hull throws the masts out of line.
How it compares with other Piececool ships
| Kit | Pieces | Listed build time | Size (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queen Anne’s Revenge (red) | 439 | Over 8 hours | 5.91 × 1.46 × 4.72 in |
| HMS Victory | 389 | Over 6 hours | Not published |
| Flying Dutchman | 369 | Over 8 hours | 8.66 × 2.16 × 7.28 in |
The Queen Anne’s Revenge has the most listed parts of the three but the smallest listed footprint. See the full comparison in our best metal ship model kits roundup.
Who it may suit
- Pirate-history fans who want a compact display ship
- Builders who have finished a few metal kits and want a long project
- Gift buyers shopping for an experienced adult builder (listed for ages 16+)
If you are newer to the hobby, build a smaller kit first, such as the Black Dragon King. Our difficulty guide explains what each level tends to mean in practice.
What we could not verify
- Piece count. The 439-piece figure appears only in one structured field.
- Size. The size field and the item-dimensions field disagree.
- Tools. One bullet says tools are not included; the included-components field lists them.
We have not confirmed how the red finish looks in person or how closely the parts match the photos. Check recent buyer reports before purchasing.
The verdict
On paper, the red Queen Anne’s Revenge is a 439-piece pirate ship with a listed build time of over 8 hours and a compact footprint. It looks like a good fit for a builder with a few kits behind them. Browse more in the ships & boats category.
